The first with sharply tapering blade of flattened diamond section, each face of the forte with central fuller retaining traces of gilding, the hilt from a scarf-sword with downcurved quillons each with flattened bulbous tip and barrel-shaped pommel, retaining traces of gold-damascened decoration throughout, the swelling grip bound with leather; the second formed from a transitional rapier, with shortened blade of hollow diamond section at the point and retaining traces of etched decoration, an inscription in German, and a king's head at the forte, narrow horizontal quillons each with large spirally fluted button-shaped finial, convex quillon-block chiselled in relief on each side with a bearded satyr-mask, and flared horn grip of octagonal section recessed at the top for the thumb, in leather scabbard with engraved iron mounts (2)
