A Rare German Dagger Of 'Landsknecht' Type
First Half Of The 16th Century
First Half Of The 16th Century
With tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, iron hilt comprising short downcurved quillons with heart-shaped tips within incised lines and small shell-guard on one side, cushion-shaped pommel cut with fan-shaped flutes and ovals on each side, and one-piece dark horn grip (minor damage) of compressed triangular cushions heightened at each corner with an iron pin, a shim of brass at the base (some pitting)
