The First Dated 1662, The Second And Third 16th Century Or Earlier
The first with bluntly-pointed recurved single-edged blade struck on one side with a cutler's mark, a hexafoil, curved tapering iron handle with natural staghorn grip-scales retained by iron pins, and on each side of its mouth with an engraved rectangular brass cap dated 1662 on each side, and long retaining spring running along the spine of the handle and extended into a short rounded blade at its base; the second with stout single-edged blade double-edged at the point and with slightly recurved cutting edge, one side inlaid with a cutler's mark, a trefoil, in copper, the handle with latten-backed grip-scales of natural staghorn retained by iron rivets and fitted on the right side with a prominent iron toggle with vertically fluted head and brass cinquefoil washers; the third, an extra piece from a trousse, formed of one piece, comprising flat single-edged blade and handle of rectangular section swelling at the top and bottom, the pommel formed as an eared monster-head in profile (3)
