In excavated condition, with broad double-edged blade with wide shallow fuller over most of its length along both sides to the point, the forte on one side deeply incised with a rune mark, hilt comprising thick ovoidal cross-piece decorated with inlaid silver interlace in Mammen style, flat tapering tang, and lobated two-piece pommel decorated en suite with the cross-piece, the central lobe with a strand of plaited silver wire on either side
