A Medieval Sword Of Oakeshott Type XII With Its Scabbard Chape
12th/13th Century

In excavated condition, with broad slightly tapering blade with shallow central fuller extending from the tang over three-quarters of its length on both sides, hilt comprising slightly up-bent quillons of tapering rectangular section widening towards the tips, flat tapering tang, and wheel pommel with chamfered edges, the chape of arched form scrolled in at the top on each side (2)
