An Unusual Grenadier Officer's Sword

with fullered blade (lightly pitted overall) double-edged at the point and retaining faint traces of etched decoration on one side at the forte, regulation hilt retaining some of its original gilding and comprising side-guard linked to the D-shaped knuckle-guard by a diagonally scrolled side-bar, the spaces between filled by linked flaming grenades, lobed rear quillon, faceted pommel cut with acanthus and with button finial, and grip bound with twisted silver wire, in replacement black leather scabbard with original linear engraved locket, chape and suspension mount each retaining very faint traces of gilding, the locket with frog-stud, and with two rings for suspension
