With slender bright blade etched with foliage over two thirds of its length on each side, one side involving crossed lances, and with crowned 'VR' cypher on the other (maker's details obscured by pitting), gilt hilt comprising downbent shell-guard with applied crowned 'VR' cypher above crossed laurel and palm branches, quillons with button terminals, crown-shaped pommel, wire-bound grip, and retaining its bullion and crimson cord sword-knot, in its black leather scabbard with linear engraved locket and chape, the former with shell-shaped frog-stud, and retaining most of its original gilding
