A Mameluke-Hilted Officer's Levee Sabre Of The 6th Dragoon Guards
Late 19th Century

With slightly curved blade double-edged at the clipped-back point and etched on both sides at the forte with crowned regimental badge and title, foliage above, gilt-mounted hilt comprising foliate engraved guard with lobed quillons (bent), ivory grips with two gilt floret-shaped rivet heads, on each side, pommel pierced for a sword-knot, and retaining its bullion sword-knot, in its brass scabbard (chape incomplete) with suspension mounts decorated en suite with the hilt, and with two rings for suspension
