A Scottish Silver-Mounted Dirk
Early 19th Century

With tapering blade double-edged over half its length to the point and fullered along the back edge on both sides, shouldered swelling rootwood grip carved with Celtic interlace set with silver studs, circular silver pommel with knurled borders, engraved with a flower-head on top and with threaded button finial en suite, border engraved basal mount engraved with a thistle on one side, and on the other with a shield against a trophy of arms, the border of the shield engraved 'A Fhear Nach Treig A Combanach', in original wood-lined tooled leather scabbard (damaged and repaired) with mounts en suite with the grip, the top mount engraved with a Scottish trophy surmounted by a bonnet, the bottom mount engraved with an English trophy surmounted by a crown (chape replaced), the by-knife and fork en suite with the dirk
