An 1831 Pattern General Officer's Mameluke-Hilted Sabre
Late 19th Century

With slightly curved bright blade double-edged at the clipped-back point and etched over half its length on both sides with strapwork, crossed branches of laurel and oak, crossed sword and baton and crowned 'VR' cypher, regulation hilt with gilt mounts including guard cast and chased on both sides with foliage against a punched ground and centred on a crossed sword and baton within a wreath, ivory grips, and pommel pierced for a sword-knot, in its brass scabbard with two rings for suspension
