A Bavarian Infantry Officer's Five-Ball Hilted Spadroon
Early 19th Century

With straight fullered blade double-edged towards the point, the forte etched and gilt against a blued ground with trophies and foliage, regulation iron hilt comprising side-guard enclosing a gilt-brass lion supporting the arms of Bavaria, knuckle-guard, lobed rear quillon and cushion-shaped pommel, and ebony grip with gilt medial band engraved with owner's monogram on a shield (some surface rust)
