An Indian Tulwar, And An Indian Pulouar
19th Century

The first with fullered single-edged blade, and characteristic iron hilt with notched borders and an incised quatrefoil on each side of the quillon-block, comprising shaped langets, button quillons each with a punched floret, curved tapering knuckle-guard with stylised monster-head finial, disc-shaped pommel with button finial on a fluted dome with rayed border, and swelling grip, in modern velvet-covered scabbard; the second with curved watered blade double-edged at the point and inlaid with a brass crescent on one side towards the forte, and iron hilt of characteristic form with punched and incised line decoration, comprising pointed langets, downbent stylised makara-head quillons, dish-shaped pommel with button finial, and swelling grip, in modern wooden scabbard covered in black leather with contemporary iron chape and suspension mounts (2)
