A Turkish Kard, And A Turkish Dagger Of Yataghan Form
Both 19th Century

The first with tapering hollow-ground single-edged blade, gilt-brass hilt with moulded pinched-in basal mount extending along the forte on each side and pierced and chased with foliage, grip-strap engraved with foliage against a punched ground, and faceted agate grips beaked at the pommel, in original wood-lined brass scabbard embossed and chased with flowering foliage against a punched ground along each side; the second with single-edged blade inlaid with brass calligraphy along one side against a ground of whorls, the silver hilt and wood-lined scabbard (worn overall, the scabbard detented and broken in two) roughly cast in low relief with foliage involving monsters, birds and trophies (2)
