An Officer's Sword
Circa 1780

With curved fullered single-edged blade (seized in the scabbard), iron hilt decorated with spiral and diagonal fluting, and comprising side-ring (broken) swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, quillon-block, lobed rear quillon, globular pommel with turned button, and fishskin-covered grip (worn) bound with copper ribbon, in original black leather scabbard (perished) with line engraved iron mounts (pitting overall)
