With tapering blade double-edged towards the ground off point and fullered over nearly its entire length on each side with a narrow fuller bordering it along the back, iron guard of narrow rounded bars framing fretted lightly incised panels pierced with triangles and circles, the main panel centred on a saltire and indistinctly engraved 'T(?)P', and with an oval apeture for reins, fore-guards, bun-shaped pommel with button and engraved 'RH' over '17', and spirally-grooved fishskin-covered grip bound with twisted wire (light pitting overall)
