Jerome 'Jerry' Epstein was Chaplin's assistant and collaborator, working with him on his last three productions. Epstein was credited as a producer on 'A Countess From Hong Kong', a role which Chaplin did not credit any of his other assistants with, Epstein also appears in the film in the role of 'Ship's Bartender'.
