Sex Pistols: A demo cassette recording,
the Emitape C60 tape with seven tracks listed on one side, the other inscribed Sex Pistols demos (Wessex?) (October 76), the inlay inscribed Dave Goodman July 1976 and Sex Pistols 1976, with statement of provenance
Footnotes
The Pistols' demos on this tape comprise: 'Submission','I Wanna Be Me','No Feelings', 'Pretty Vacant', 'Lazy Sod' (aka '17'), 'Anarchy In The UK' and 'Satellite'. Produced by Dave Goodman, they were first recorded at Denmark Street rehearsal room, London, 13th-30th July 1976, then mixed/overdubbed at Riverside Studios, London, July 1976. Originally recorded on a 4-track mixing desk, they were later mixed and overdubbed at Riverside Studios in Chiswick (not the same Riverside Studios the fledgling Sex Pistols had used for rehearsals before Johnny Rotten joined the group).
'I Wanna Be Me' from this session later turned up as the B-side for the 'Anarchy In The UK' single. The version of 'No Feelings' would have been the B-side of the withdrawn A & M single, 'God Save The Queen'. Although the tracks listed have appeared on various CD releases, it is rare to find a contemporary recording in this format.
