Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull: A letter from Ian Anderson, making reference to the Hyde Park Festival in June 1968,

in red ballpoint on two sides of cream-coloured (torn) paper, addressed to My dearest Yvonne, stating ...I find it hard to put to writing the things I want to say to you (Because it would sound like a corny love letter - and, as you know, I am much too cool for that!)..., and detailing news of Jethro Tull, ...We have another recording session tomorrow. We played at an open air concert in Hyde Park last Saturday which was fun. Things look like happening in for us in a few months - really this time..., signed All my love, Ian, undated, 4½ x 8 inches (11.5 x 21cm)

Footnotes

The first free festival in London's Hyde Park took place on 29th June 1968. In addition to Jethro Tull, the lineup comprised Roy Harper, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Pink Floyd. John Peel, compere for the event, later wrote in his 'International Times' newspaper column, The Perfumed Garden, that 'Jethro Tull had been preceded to the Park by rumours of their goodness. They played with fire and brought out the first rays of the sun.'
