Footnotes
There is a similar watch by the same maker and casemaker in the British museum which is featured in David Thomson's, Watches, Page 80. Mr Thomson also mentions that this name appeared on numerous 'Pseudo-English watches' which most likely began life in Switzerland but were made for the European market.
Daniel Cochin was a well known case and box master engraver from Geneva, who worked in Paris until his return home and death in 1770. He was particularly well known for making cast cases to imitate the difficult repousse method popular at the time.
With thanks to Mr David Thomson for the research of this particular watch.
