James Barrow. An early 18th century silver champlevé dial pair case pocket watch
Circa 1710
Gilt full plate verge movement, pierced and engraved winged balance cock, silver regulation, Egyptian pillars, silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic five minute chapter, signed to the centre with decorative shells, steel tulip hands, polished silver inner and outer polished cases both bearing the case makers mark RC, dial and movement signed 57mm.

There is a James Barrow, from Edinburgh, listed as a journeyman of Andrew Barrow, 'from whom he stole a watch and absconded' in 1699 and who is described as, 'of a low stature, a little pock marked, speaks the English accent.'
