Footnotes
The brilliant idea of the Souscription watch was first conceived by Abraham Louis Breguet following his return to France after the French Revolution. Virtually all of his tools and equipment has been sold or lost during this time and he nearly went bankrupt. A buyer could make a down payment of 25 percent for a watch, with the balance due upon delivery. In this manner, Breguet watches became more accessible and the payments in advance helped him revive his business. After 1807, Breguet's son joined the company and the signature changed to Breguet et Fils .
The Breguet Certificate states that this watch was sold to A Weyer Frères & Cie on the 29th of December 1819.
