Saleroom notices
There is a wax seal to the back of the panel, believed to be Italian, as the Eagle displayed in chief signified allegiance to the Holy Roman Emperor. The seal also displays a Coronet, which would appear to be that of a nobleman without title, and three crescents/horseshoes. The seal would appear to be North Italian, and pre-1806 in date (as the Holy Roman Empire ceased to exist in 1806).
