A Roman marble portrait bust
Circa 1st Century B.C. - 2nd Century A.D.
The portrait head depicting a man with mature features, with short receding hair on back and sides, the eyes with detailed eyelids and the mouth slightly open above the pointed chin, Late Republican, circa 1st Century B.C./A.D, wearing the paludamentum fastened with a fibula over the right shoulder, falling around the neck in deep folds, the tasselled end falling over the left shoulder, Antonine Period, circa 2nd Century A.D., the head and bust not belonging, set on a marble socle, 32½in (82.5cm) overall height, 10½in (26.5cm) height of the head
