A Byzantine ivory male head inlay
Circa 5th-7th Century A.D.
With long straight hair and close-cropped fringe, each lock finely drilled, the eyes with drilled pupils, the nose with drilled nostrils, with slightly open mouth and pointy chin, 1½in (3cm) high
