A Hellenistic gold snake bracelet
Circa 3rd-2nd Century B.C.
Composed of four thin strips of sheet gold, the strips convex on top and flat underneath, emerging from a hinged clasp, the terminals decorated with filigree bands and ovolo, the upper and lower strips terminating half-way in stylised snakes with chased details of the scales and long curling wire tails, the lower damaged, 2¼in (5.7cm) diam; weight 20 grams
