Two Roman mosaic glass floral inlay fragments
Egypt, circa 1st Century A.D.
Both with lily-and-palmette design, the larger with two opaque yellow lilies alternating with two palmettes, each with central yellow leaf and three striped leaves in red, white and black, with central rosette with red and pale blue heart-shaped petals, in black matrix, framed by a white frieze of red and translucent blue flowers, 31mm x 17mm; the other with similar design, the white lilies, white, red and black palmettes and central yellow and red rosette in translucent blue matrix, 19mm x 17mm (2)
