An Amlash pottery goat rhyton
Iran, circa 8th-7th Century B.C.
The ovoid ridged body decorated with white slip, the back with geometric and foliate motifs added in black and red slip, a flaring mouth at one end, the head and neck emerging from the other, the long horns with painted spotted decoration curving backwards to join the body, the details of the eye and mouth incised, a pierced pouring hole below the neck, 12½in (32cm) long
