A Roman bronze steelyard balance and weight
Circa 1st-2nd Century A.D.
The counterpoise bust, possibly portraying an emperor, depicted wearing a wreath and a cuirass, suspended from a beam of rectangular cross-section with conical terminals, engraved on three faces with graded divisions and stippled letters, the other face with a stippled inscription, one end of the beam with attachment rings and hooks, and two additional hooks suspended on chains from a collar, 16¼in (41.3cm) length of beam; 3¼in (8.1cm)
