A pair of Meissen figures mounted on ormolu candelabra, circa 1740-45

Modelled by J.J. Kaendler, the first with Harlequin seated playing bagpipes, wearing a grey pointed hat, tunic decorated with coloured diamond panels and playing cards, white breeches and black shoes with puce bows, the second with a seated Tyrolean lady playing a hurdy-gurdy, wearing a yellow hat, salmon-pink bodice, white apron, skirt decorated with flowers and yellow shoes, the base applied with leaves and flowers, each mounted on a later ormolu scrollwork base applied with leafy branches applied with porcelain flowers and two foliate sconces, 26cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue to rear of bases (minor restoration and chips) (2)
