A very rare Meissen crinoline group (Der Herzdosenverkauf), circa 1739

Modelled by J.J. Kaendler, the lady seated in a high-backed chair holding a gilt snuff box in her right hand, the gentleman holding a heart-shaped box in his right hand, wearing an ermine-lined puce cloak, yellow-lined white cape with purple flowers, a black crinoline dress painted with indianische Blumen, and a gilt-edged turquoise underskirt, the gentleman wearing a red jacket with gilt frogging and black cuffs, a blue waistcoat and black breeches, the lady to the side with an open box of trinkets and snuff-boxes strapped to her front, wearing a green hat, yellow bodice, pale puce apron with indianische Blumen and a striped skirt, the blackamoor servant at the rear holding a cup and saucer on a tazza, wearing a yellow turban, blue jacket , iron-red skirt and black breeches with yellow boots, the base applied with leaves and flowers, 20.5cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue (some restoration)
