A rare Meissen blue-ground cup and saucer, circa 1735

The cup reserved with a quatrelobe panel depicting a Kauffahrtei scene of merchants and their wares by a quayside within a gilt scrollwork border, the wishbone handle with gilt acanthus leaf terminal, the saucer with a similar cartouche embellished with gilt, iron-red and purple foliate scrollwork, gilt scrollwork borders to the rims, cup: 5.2cm high; saucer: 12cm diam., crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed Former's number * to the saucer and // to the cup (very minor wear) (2)
