A Meissen octagonal coffee pot and cover, circa 1735

Painted on each side with a chinoiserie scene on an elaborate gilt trellis- and scrollwork pedestal filled with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red and purple foliate scrolls, further painted with indianische Blumen and scattered insects and birds, a gilt scrollwork border below the rim and a foliate scrollwork motif below the spout, the cover similarly decorated, 23.3cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised M (finial restuck, tip of spout restored) (2)
