Ulrich Pietsch, Passion for Meissen (2010), no. 173
The 1779 inventory of the Japanese Palace lists: 'Fünf Stück differente gemuschelte Chocolaten=Becher, mit kleinen indianischen Blümgen' [five differently shell-moulded chocolate beakers, with small Indian flowers] (quoted by U. Pietsch, see above). A similar lobed beaker and saucer is in the collection of the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, published by Lydia Liackhova, The Myth of the Orient: Eastern Subjects in Early Meissen Porcelain [trans.] (2007), no. 60.
