CONGOLESE-FRENCH MANUSCRIPT DICTIONARY.
"Dictionnaire françois-Congo." AND: "Essai d'une Grammaire Kongo tome 1re." [Late 18th century.] 312 pp and 32 pp respectively, recto and verso, 4to, brown ink, in the same hand. Original marbled wrappers and original plain self-wrappers respectively; housed together in chemise and morocco-backed slipcase. Very minor soiling, backstrip worn on dictionary, excellent condition.
Likely the work of a French missionary to the Loango Coast in the 1780s.
