4to (178 x 125 mm). q4 (-q1 blank) A-3G4 3H22 (-3H2 blank?). Engraved decorative title, historiated initials, printers device at colophon. Modern red morocco, gilt spine titles and ruling. Engraved title mounted, a few period annotations in margins, a few headlines shaved, some worming to margins, some dampstaining from 2v quire onward, a few corners repaired.
Provenance: George Wilbraham (armorial bookplate).

FIRST HOLYBAND EDITION of one of the earliest French-English dictionaries, a revision of the anonymous Dictionarie French and English, 1571. Holyband was a Huguenot refugee who arrived in London sometime before 1565. STC (2nd ed.), 6761.
