KIMCHI, DAVID BEN JOSEPH. c.1160-1235.
Sefer ha-shorashim [In Hebrew.] Venice: C. Adelkind for D. Bomberg, 1546.
Folio (295 x 205 mm). [144] leaves. Title in architectural woodcut border. Hebrew type throughout; text in 2 columns. 18th century mottled calf. Title re-hinged and with a small portion of margin excised, few leaves with corner dampstain, overall internally fresh, binding worn with some worming to spine.
Provenance: Raphael More (manuscript bookplate).
SECOND BOMBERG EDITION, edited by Isaiah ben Eleazar Parnas and with notes by Elias Levita [1468-1549]. The printer of this edition was Cornelius Adelkind, the son of the Jewish printer Baruch Adelman. It is unusual that Daniel Bomberg, himself a Christian, allowed Adelkind to be credited in the book (see Amram The Makers of Hebrew Books in Italy p 180). Adams K45.
