GERMAN KONVERSATIONS LEXIKON.

Manuscript encyclopedia and compilation of quotations. [Germany, late 18th-early 19th century.] 21 thick quarto volumes, stitched (2 in remboitage boards). Extra-illustrated with engravings from printed books, correspondence with scholars, botanical samples, and an impression in sealing wax of a coin.

A fascinating monograph encyclopedia by an an unknown author/editor. It appears to slightly antedate the work of Joseph Meyer [1796-1856] whose Lexikon was first published in 1839.
