De orthographia dictionum e Graecis tractarum. Venice: Hermann Liechtenstein, November 12, 1484.
Folio (305 x 209 mm). 197 leaves (of 198, lacking initial blank): A8(-A1) B-M6 a-b8 c-u6. Roman type. Later vellum over boards, spine lettered in gilt and manuscript. Some marginal dampstain at ends, marginal repaired tear to c4, stain to F6, scattered few spots and marks, early marginalia occasionally trimmed.

Tortelli is said to have served as librarian to Pope Nicholas V, the great humanist patron whose collection formed the basis of the Vatican Library. "Discussing the question of the supposed Greek derivation of Latin words in the Orthographia, Tortelli refers to such new inventions and delights as the mechanical clock, the compass, and sugar as examples of words not derived from Greek" (Keio University Libraries Special Collections).
