LEAVES— HEBREW.

IBN JANAH, JONAH. c.990-c.1050.
1. Hebrew manuscript on vellum, from Kitab al-Tanqih [Hebrew grammar and dictionary]. [Spain, 14th century.] 2 leaves recto and verso, 2 columns of 36 lines, Hebrew script, brown ink, 311 x 209 mm each, headings in red. One column of each leaf shaved, some staining from use in binding.
2. Hebrew manuscript on vellum, again from Kitab al-Tanqih. [Spain, 14th/15th century.] Single leaf recto and verso, 2 columns of 31 lines, square Hebrew script, brown ink. 343 x 266 mm, headings in red. Few period annotations in margins, one side worn and toned from use as a wrapper, edge-worn.

Three leaves from two different manuscripts of Rabbi Jonah Ibn Janah's great medieval work of Hebrew lexicology. "In range and theoretical basis no other work of Hebrew grammar can be compared to it" (Encyclopedia Judaica).
