東下り(伊勢物語)図陶製印籠 銘「乾山」 19世紀
Provenance: F. A. Richards collection, purchased at Sotheby's, London, 1963.
Wrangham collection, no.233.
Published: E. A. Wrangham, The Index of Inro Artists, 1995, p.126, Kenzan, top middle.
A number of inro bearing the name Kenzan are recorded, which are not by Ogata Kenzan I (1663-1743) but may be by later generations or more likely by followers, such as Ogata Kenya (1853-1923).
The design is taken from a woodblock-printed book, Korin Hyakuzu, by Sakai Hoitsu, first published in 1815.
