韃靼狩人図密陀絵印籠 無銘 19世紀
Provenance: purchased from Eskenazi Ltd., London, 1996.
Wrangham collection, no.2100.
The style of lacquering known as mitsuda-e was used sparingly in the 19th century and sometimes applied to older inro. In the present case, the form and the nashiji interior have the appearance of an early 18th century inro, to which the design has been later re-lacquered.
