The design of the reverse is taken from a Chinese woodblock-printed book by Fang Yulu, titled Fang Shi Mopu, 'A compendium of Chinese ink-cake designs', published circa 1588, and it also appears in Chengshi Moyuan by Cheng Dayue, published in 1606.
