A black lacquer four-case inro

By Tsuchida Soetsu, (c.1660-1745), late 17th/early 18th century
Of rounded form, bearing a roiro ground with nashiji borders, lacquered with two sparrows fighting in mid-air over a gourd vine, the reverse with a fruiting branch, in gold and coloured takamakie with fruit inlaid in coral and green stone, the interior of nashiji, signed Tsuchida Soetsu with kao. 7.3cm (2 7/8in).
