An illustration to a ragamala series: Patamanjari ragini
Deccan, Hyderabad, mid 18th century
Opaque watercolor and gold on paper; with her arms raised in exasperation the maiden is consoled by attendants rubbing her feet and fanning her, while an elderly lady provides council. The group are set on an open terrace before open pavilions and textile canopies.
