A gilt copper alloy repousse mandala of Padmasambhava
Tibet, 19th Century
The circular panel with a central gilt figure of Padmasambhava dressed in monastic robes holding a staff, skull bowl and vajra surrounded by four small emanations, also gilded, within a formal stepped mandala showing the four directions or gates and various auspicious symbols. The whole enclosed by a lotus and scrolling foliate borders. 23 in. (58.4 cm) diam.
