A gilt copper repousse plaque of a Kirrtimukhara
Tibet, 18th/19th century
depicted with a fierce expression, tongue hanging out, fangs bares and narrow bulging eyes framed by a heavy scrolling brows and pointed ears. His domed curling coiffure is ornamented by a jewel within a crescent and his powerful arms, with elbows outstretched, with hands that would have held a naga with claw-like finger nails. 12 x 17 in. (30.5 x 43.2 cm.)
