CRUIKSHANK (GEORGE)

The Artist and the Author: a Statement of Facts, binary edition, condemned by the paper, minor browning [Enquiry 2, pp.197-98], 8vo, Bell and Daldy, 1872 [Richard Clay, c.1900]

Footnotes

Wise wrote of it to Wrenn "this pamphlet is as scarce as it is important". Ten years later he sold 45 copies of it to Gorfin at less than £1 for the lot, but in 1933 he bought all the remaining forgeries back from Gorfin for £400 and had them torn up, including the Cruikshank.
