A large archive of Marilyn Monroe photographs
1940s–1960s, approximately 6,500 photographs; re-prints and vintage, with many having typed press snippets glued to the verso or stamps by photo agencies such as United Press International, Pictorial Parade, Phil Buchman Agency, Globe, Soundphoto, Hollywood Press Syndicate, Movie Life, and International News Photo.
The consignor has organized one portion of the collection by film with movie stills, set photos, wardrobe photos and publicity photos from the following films (over 3000 images): Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, River of No Return, There is No Business Like Show Business, Seven Year Itch, The Prince and the Showgirl, Bus Stop, Some Like It Hot, Let's Make Love, The Misfits, Something Got to Give, Monkey Business, Don't Bother to Knock, and others.
The second portion of the collection is organized by photographer, of which most are re-prints or supplied by photo agencies (approximately 1900 images).
The third portion of the collection comprises candid photographs organized by date from 1940 to 1962 (approximately 1850 photos), and includes baby photos, family vacations, photos of Marilyn at Fox Studios drama school, being painted by Earl Moran, modeling, at the hospital, at movie premieres, entertaining the troops in Korea, marrying Joe DiMaggio, riding a pink elephant at Madison Square Garden, at the Golden Globes, and at John F. Kennedy's birthday party.
