maker's mark "G 104 D" in a lozenge punch, see Bulgari, Argentieri Gemmari E Orafi D'Italia, No. 1210, p.573, Rome circa 1830-40
The stem formed as Mercury standing on one foot, the oil reserve held in his right hand with four oil lamps formed as Bacchant masks, each with applied chain attachment holding various implements, all surmounting a square pedestal with canted corners and applied with four classical masks, the base detached and in parts, height approx 44.5cm.
