A late 16th early/17th century South American silver-gilt two-tier standing salt
by Lazaro de Encalada, Valladolid circa 1600
Cylindrical form, the separate domed cover with screw-off pierced finial, cover and lower section flat chased with rectangular panels and "C" scrolls all on a matted ground, cover applied with three double scroll brackets and the base supported on three scroll and paw feet, height 14.3cm, weight 19.87oz.
